The caterpillar crawled along slowly. Oops! It stumbled its toe on a stone. But which toe was it? He had 26 toes!
Maybe it was the “I” or maybe “E”. Or perhaps “J”
He wanted to put a bandage on it, but which one?
He crawled even more slowly now, wondering how to fix this problem. He stopped to eat some juicy leaves. He took a rest. He woke up and played with his friend, Worm. He ate supper, then read a story, then brushed his teeth and put on his pyjamas.
As he fell asleep he forgot about the sore toe. Maybe it didn’t hurt so much after all.
Note: This story was inspired by the Leap Frog toy caterpillar that has “toes” corresponding to the letters of the alphabet.
